Sopore, Oct 19 (KNO): The unscheduled power outage, which has become a persistent issue, has drawn severe criticism from north Kashmir's Sopore residents, who claim that the irregular power cuts are disrupting daily life, thereby affecting the commercial activities. Residents, who spoke to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), demanded immediate intervention from the authorities. “We are suffering due to these erratic power cuts. There is no proper schedule and it’s especially difficult for students preparing for exams", they said. Tariq Ahmed, a businessman, said that their businesses are badly impacted. “Without reliable electricity, it’s impossible to function smoothly, especially with modern payment systems and refrigeration needs,” he said. Meanwhile, in response to the growing discontent, MLA-elect Irshad Rasool Kar acknowledged the gravity of the situation. He said, “The issue of unscheduled power cuts is long-standing, mainly due to water shortages and declining water levels.” Kar assured the public that the matter would be taken up with the Chief Minister to find sustainable solutions. “Ensuring continuous electricity for the industrial and business sectors will be a priority. We will work to ensure that power cuts are minimized, especially in the warmer months when demand peaks,” he said—(KNO)
